Cody D'Estenbrugge?

Ghent Belgium
So I recently completed a family history course that left me fascinated in discovering all about my rich ancestral history. My dad, being the family genealogist, has traced our family line back centuries and has volumes of interesting accounts of my ancestors. Here's a little bit of what we know about the Easterbrook family history.

My oldest known ancestor who carried my last name is traced back to the 1300’s to a town in Belgium not far from the capital of Brussles. Oliver D’Estenbrugge and his family lived on the east side of the brook in Ghent Belgium. D’Estenbrugge was the Bailiff or Sheriff of the town and he and his family were known for living yonder on the east side of the brook and that is how they got their last name, D’Estenbrugge. In the late 1500’s the D’Estenbrugges moved to England because of religious persecution and their names changed to the English translation. Some became Esterbrooke, other Easterbrooks and my line became known as Easterbrook. The Easterbrook family settled in Devonshire England as dairy farmers. I descend from Henry Elias Easterbrook who came to Canada around 1880 and settled as a farmer in Palham Canada near Niagara Falls. There the Easterbrooks remained for another century as my father grew up just up the road from Niagara as well.

That's awesome!

I found out that one of my ancestors was one of the 19 accused witches in Salem and died in the Salem jail!

Cuh-razy!!

You're awesome, Cody!
